Midsummer Sunset Makeup Look

Hello loves!

I wanted to create a makeup look for the celebration of Midsummer Day. In Finland Midsummer Day is a special day, especially in the nort where the sun doesn’t actually set. In the northern part of Finland the day is actually two days long, which is incredible and magical. And here in the south where I live, the sun sets at 2am and rises up again at 4am.

This is why I made a sunset inspired look, for the sun that doesn’t set. Hope you like my makeup look because it’s my first one on my blog. Happy Midsummer Day!

Orange Summer Lip Products

Happy Monday loves!

Summer is all about warmth, happiness and all things nice… and about my favourite color, orange!

I have the perfect summer lip products that make your tan appear even more desirable. And if you don’t tan, they look amazing anyways because they bring out your natural glow.

From up going down: NYX Matte Lipstick in Sierra, YSL Gloss Volupté in 204 Corail Trapèze, Clinique Chubby Stick Baby Tint in 01 Poppin’ Poppy

NYX Matte Lipstick in Sierra. A dark orange (with a pink base) colored lipstick that just glides when applied. This Lipstick is extremely pigmented and even if it’s matte it’s super creamy and moisturizing. I mean, look at the swatch! It lasts through a cup of tea and a meal. I highly recommend this if you have dry lips but want a matte finished lipstick. I need to try out more shades.

Yves Saint Laurent Gloss Volupté in 204 Corail Trapèze. This lip gloss is my newest favourite! I never thought that I would dare to wear or even buy a lip gloss because I have never liked them. Well, I bought this over a week ago and I’m in love. I had this urge to buy a gloss and I ended up choosing this high-end product that was also gladly on sale. The scent is absolutely heavenly, so sweet and PEACH! Gloss Volupté is also very pigmented for a lip gloss, it’s also moisturizing and feels lightweight on the lips. This isn’t one of those tacky, icky feeling lip glosses. The quality is overall amazing.

Clinique Chubby Stick Baby Tint in 01 Poppin’ Poppy. This is perfect if you just want a lip balm with some tint. It’s sheer but still gives you a natural look and feel on the lips. Poppin’ Poppy gives you a beautiful sheer coral tint. I have worn this for even 10 hours straight and it still has looked great without fading. Chubby Stick is super easy to apply because you don’t need a mirror for this, perfect for an always in a hurry-girl.

Do you own any orange, coral or peachy lip products? Let me know so I might check them out.

Recent Beauty Buys

Hello loves!

I went shopping with my mom on the weekend to Helsinki. I picked up some makeup, skincare products and repurchased a nearly ending product. Overall I’m happy with my mini haul but I wish that I would have bought summery lipstick shades. There are just so many lipsticks available that my mind couldn’t concentrate properly. Usually I make a huge research before purchasing a product. If you have any summer lipstick colors (violets or rosy shades) to recommend, I’m listening.

Without further ado, let’s get started.

I just had to buy more NYX Lip Lingeries. I really love the formula and the lipstick overall. I already own one, so I wanted to grow my collection. I picked up Exotic and Beauty Mark. Exotic is currently the only red shade in the Lip Lingerie range and because of that my eye immediately caught on it. Exotic is like a mahogany color. Beauty Mark on the other hand is a warm dark brown, described as chocolate brown. I had this sudden desire to own a darker lip option. And currently this is the darkest shade I own.

I decided to repurchase Mossa Cleansing Micellar Water. I honestly didn’t think that I would like this, I just gave it a go. I was skeptical due to the low price for a natural product. With this I remove my makeup in the evening. I like that it doesn’t dry out my skin and the fact that it’s suitable for all skin types. It has hyaluronic acid and arctic raspberry which is antioxidant. It claims to cleanse, tone and moisturize the skin but for me it’s more like cleanse and tone. I don’t personally mind that it doesn’t moisturize because I follow up with a toner anyways. And the toner I crabbed is Madara Balancing Toner for normal/combination skin. This is a product I haven’t tried before but have always been interested to do so. The only reason I bought it was for the good recommendations and that it is alcohol free. It’s supposed to refresh, control oily and dry areas of the skin and shrink pores. We’ll have have to see how it performs.

Another product from Mossa is the Mossa Skin Perfector Tinting Moiturizer in soft beige. It’s a BB cream for all skin types and with 5 benefits for the skin.

  1. Leaves skin mattified and smooths out texture (wrinkles, pores)
  2. Gives a healthy glow and evens out skin tone
  3. Hyaluronic acid moisturizes and evens out the skin surface
  4. Natural oils and shea butter nourish and protect skin
  5. Arctic plum oil revitalizes and calms dry, irritated skin

This sounded too good, of course I took it with me.

We went to The Body Shop with my mom because she wanted to buy me something for my psoriasis in my right hand. Now that the weather has been so moody and cold my psoriasis has gotten so ugly and dry. There isn’t an actual cure for it yet but it can be relieved. The sales lady recommended this The Body Shop Amazonian Saviour Multi-Purpose Balm and two other products. This felt the best when I applied it on my hand. Thumbs up for the natural ingredients and let’s hope that this eases my rashes.

The star of the hole show: Smashbox Cover Shot: Ablaze. I have been eyeing on this eyeshadow palette for months and I finally got it. My mom decided to treat me and bought this for me as a graduation present. It includes eight eyeshadows with a gold-orange-red color range. It’s so beautiful. I will play around with it for a week or two and review it with swatches included. Stay tuned!

The Balm Highlight & Lipstick Combo For Spring/Summer

Hello loves!

So, the Mary-Lou Manizer has made my days even brighter with its presence on my face. I have never been much of a highlighter girl, until now. That’s why I laughed and was amazed that Mary made me fall in love with highlights.

First of all, Mary-Lou Manizer is soft, blends like a dream, is pigmented as hell and still manages to look natural on the skin. It is the perfect champagne shade that looks great almost on every skin tone.

I have owned Mary-Lou Manizer for a long time. Sadly, I have not used it. I was so excited when I got it in my hands last year in October. I gave it a swipe and swatched it on the back of my hand. It didn’t bring me any excitement…

Now that I think about it, it might of been due to the fall time. In the fall I don’t really gravitate towards a sunlight look. But, since now it’s spring I dig it up from the back of my drawer and tried swatching it again. Yes, now it’s your time!

I have been rocking it for a week now and have been wearing it on the high points of my cheeks, bridge of the nose, as an inner corner highlight, on my cupid’s bow and as a lid shade now and then.

To make the highlighter pop even more I have combined it with Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade Sentimental.

Sentimental is a bright pink! It’s a lightweight, matte lipstick that dries quickly. It smells like true peppermint. It’s a very strong scent but quite refreshing and feels cooling on the lips actually, which is appreciated on the hot days of spring and summer.

The consistency of it is thin and quite drying. So I wouldn’t recommend this if you suffer from extremely dry lips.

One great thing is that you don’t need to be afraid of the lipstick sliding off during the day. It doesn’t budge, the stay power is real. Since micellar water alone doesn’t remove it, I use a cleansing oil before the micellar. Still it shows a hint of shade after removal.

The combination of the highlight and the lipstick looks so radiant. Added with just a little bit of mascara, brows and contour, you are good to go. It’s a bold look and a great hangover makeup. Wearing this combo makes me feel like a goddess that is ready to turn into a full time beach babe, haha!

Thank you for reading and hope you enjoyed it!

Have you tried the Mary-Lou Manizer or any other The Balm products?

Everyday Spring Makeup Look

Hello lovelies and a great Monday!

New season, new look! Spring is on a good roll now and we are approaching summer. My daily makeup routine has evolved from the winter darkness to a more peachy look.

My mornings are busy so I have kept it really simple this spring.

In my makeup look you can see just a few products. I am really lazy at applying foundation on daily basis as it takes so much time. With these products it only takes 10 minutes to do my makeup.

If you have any recommendations of BB or CC creams hit in on the comment bar below.

After my daily skincare routine I apply some NYX HD Photogenic Concealer Wand under my eyes to hide dark circles and for any angry pimples that need cover up. To brighten the overall look I apply blush to my cheeks and to my lid. In this case I use the Makeup Geek Blush in the shade Romance. It is a peachy coral with a golden shimmery finish so it works as a blush and a highlighter, which to me is crucial when I only have so little time to do my makeup. For the application I use Real Techniques Contour Brush.

When my base is done I move to the mascara. By far the best drugstore mascara I have used, Maybelline Lash Sensational in Waterproof. Two coats of this makes it look like I’m wearing falsies.

To complete the look I use NYX Lip Lingerie in the shade Ruffle Trim. I spoke about this on 3 Favourite Lipsticks Right Now.

So that was it, really simple and minimal spring look. Let me know if you have done a Spring Makeup Look post and I will check it out. Hope you enjoyed mine. Till next time!

My Makeup Geek Eyeshadows + Swatches + Reviews

Happy April everyone!

How have you been doing? I feel like March went by too fast. Also the weather has been awful here in Finland, rain, snow and fog. Come on spring!

Last week I ordered some Makeup Geek eyeshadows and a small Z-Palette from BeautyBay. I am already a Makeup Geek fanatic even though I have discovered them just only about over a year ago (better late than never). My order included five (5) eyeshadows, which three (3) of them were matte eyeshadows and two (2) were duochromes.

I originally own two MUG eyeshadows, Shimma Shimma and Country Girl. I felt like these two were lonely and needed a squad, hahaha.

From left to right: Shimma Shimma, Peach Smoothie, Creme Brulee, Country Girl, Cabin Fever, Ritzy (Duochrome), Havoc (Duochrome)

Shimma Shimma is a champagne color and so pigmented. It’s the perfect inner corner highlight. I also sometimes use it on the middle of the lid as a pop of color with any other eyeshadow. I’m gonna say what everyone else says about this eyeshadow, it’s a must have in your collection.

Peach Smoothie is a peachy orange shade. I ordered this because I wanted it to be my summer eyeshadow. It complements my blue eyes and fair skin so beautifully. It is perfect as a transition shade or just used on its own on the entire lid together with Shimma Shimma on the center.

Creme Brulee is a warm light brown color. It’s described on the Makeup Geek site as medium sand color with a matte finish. I found this a little bit drier than the other eyeshadows when I swatched it. I had to swatch it like three times because it wasn’t showing up. However, when I use it on my lid it shows up more pigmented and is creamy in texture which makes it easy to blend.

Country Girl is a shimmery muted pink brown. I use this all over lid when I’m in a hurry and want a pop of color. It look good on its own or with eyeliner. I couldn’t find this eyeshadow on Makeup Geek website, so I don’t know if this eyeshadow has been cancelled or something.

Cabin Fever is a reddish brown and it’s matte. This one is the most pigmented out of all the shades in my collection. That swatch on the picture is with one swipe. It is extremely buttery and blends well. This shade is great on the outer v and when doing a smoky eye. It makes my blue eyes pop.

Ritzy (Duochrome) is a red/brown based eyeshadow with green and gold flecks. I expected this one to be more gold/green than red. It looks beautiful on the pan, blends easily and is very pigmented. It looks so good when applied own its own on the entire lid because it has so many dimensions (it’s like you’re wearing 4 or more eyeshadows). I am a little bit disappointed because it isn’t what I thought it was, but I’m also very surprised that it actually looks better than what I had in my mind. Ritzy is a cool eyeshadow to have in your collection.

Havoc (Duochrome) is a rusty shade with green flecks. This is the eyeshadow I was most excited about. When I swatched it the teal/green in it really stood out. In the pan it looks like olive green but it’s actually so much more. Havoc can be used on its own but I combine it with Peach Smoothie and Creme Brulee. It is not as versatile as Ritzy but it’s unique and mesmerizing!

Do you own any Makeup Geek eyeshadows? Have you ordered something from BeautyBay recently?

Makeup Wishlist

Hi loves!

So it has come to the point where my wishlist has a few products I lust for to buy. I am a very visual person so I’m easily submitted over new eyeshadow palettes, cool packages and such. Who isn’t?

Having no regular income I rarely get to actually buy my wishlist products. But if I have managed to save some money along with my studies, my wish comes reality. I don’t usually even bother to spend so much money on a single product, so I have this method “If I forget the item, then I don’t really need/want it”. This helps so much and eases my mind.

Anyways, here it goes! A little list of the products that I have been graving on for a while now.

What products are you raving about at the moment? And have you tried any of these products? Let me know down below in the comment section.
